A doctor appeared at Kowloon City Court on Monday charged with manslaughter through gross negligence over the death of a dance teacher in June 2014.

The prosecution alleges that when Vanessa Kwan carried out liposuction on Josephine Lee, 32, she failed to ensure the patient was properly sedated and was given sufficient oxygen.

The doctor, 35, is also accused of failing to monitor Lee's condition and provide timely resuscitation after the procedure at a hair transplant centre in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Kwan is scheduled to attend another hearing at Eastern Court on April 30 for the case to be transferred to the High Court.

No plea was taken and Kwan was granted bail.
