The Civic Party leader speaks to the media before submitting papers seeking re-election for the legal sector seat in the legislature.

The Civic Party's Dennis Kwok said on Monday he is not concerned about being stripped of his candidacy for the Legislative Council elections, saying "worrying can't change anything" as he submitted his bid to seek re-election for the legal sector seat in the legislature.

Kwok was under severe criticism from Beijing's offices on Hong Kong affairs, which accused him of dereliction of duty when the House Committee election that he presided over couldn't produce a chair for more than six months.

"It doesn't matter whether you're worried about DQ [disqualification]... you can't change anything either way," Kwok told reporters.

Kwok said because his fellow Professionals Guild members are signing a confirmation letter swearing allegiance to the SAR, he is also signing "to show unity".

The pro-democracy camp's Information Technology sector hopeful, Wong Ho-wa, also planned to do the same.

He was accompanied by incumbent Charles Mok, who's also from the Guild, when submitting his nomination.

The confirmation letter has become a matter of controversy within the pro-democracy camp, with the more progressive fractions of the camp wanting others not to sign it to show unity among them.
