  • Democracy statue takes pride of place on Lion Rock

Protesters have smuggled a four-metr-tall statue to the summit of Lion Rock overnight to symbolise democracy, braving overnight thunderstorms in the process.

The 'Lady Liberty' statue - complete with gas mask, helmet, umbrella and protective goggles - sits atop Lion Rock.

It holds a black banner that reads “Revolution of our time, Liberate Hong Kong”.

One hand appears to have been damaged during the trek up the hill, but more than a hundred hikers still gathered to admire the Goddess of Democracy on Sunday afternoon.
