An Eastern Court magistrate on Tuesday adjourned the case of an 18-year-old accused of slashing a policeman with a box cutter, saying it was inappropriate to hear it because the defendant is in hospital.

The student has been charged with wounding with intent.

The policeman is said to have suffered a wound to his neck in an attack outside Kwun Tong MTR Station on Sunday.

The case was adjourned until October 18, and the magistrate ordered that the defendant remain under police custody.

It was not clear why the teenager was in hospital.
