Former Chief Executive CY Leung has posted what he says is information on teachers charged in connection with anti-government protests.

Ip Kin-yuen speaks to RTHK's Jimmy Choi

Former Chief Executive CY Leung has published personal information on what he claims are 18 teachers prosecuted for protest-related offences, including names, ages and school details.

In a Facebook post titled “Outrageous”, Leung says the Education Bureau, Hong Kong Professional Teachers’ Union, schools and their sponsoring bodies have all neglected parents’ right to know who these teachers are.

Leung said the group '803 Fund', which he founded to trace demonstrators suspected of being involved in criminality, believes public interest overrides the teachers’ privacy, so it has verified their identities with their schools and made the details public.

“Today, '803 Fund' starts with criminal cases which have been reported by the media,” said Leung, a vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

His list includes names, ages, and school names for 18 people, along with crimes he says they have been accused of, as well as references to various media reports.

Only Facebook friends of the former CE are able to put comments on his social media page, and messages of support accompanied the post.

"Support CY, provide details of teacher misconduct. The Education Bureau won’t do it, so we’ll do it ourselves, let all parents in Hong Kong see!" one post said.

Another said teachers with no conscience, no morals and no professionalism should be disqualified for life.

But education sector lawmaker Ip Kin-yuen told RTHK's Jimmy Choi that Leung is just trying to hurt people and spread hatred.

"He is trying to cause trouble to these people and to the schools. I think the intention is very bad and it doesn't help society at all. It is out of hostility and is promoting hatred," Ip said.

The lawmaker said he didn't know if what Leung had done amounted to doxxing, but it was "very improper".
