Customs Foil Attempts To Hide Drug In Water Filters

Customs officers said on Monday that they had foiled attempts by syndicates to traffic millions of dollars worth of drugs hidden in water filters.
Officers said the two cases were detected on Sunday and Monday at the airport during separate inspections of shipments from Thailand to New Zealand and Australia.
A total of 20 kilos of the drug meth with a street value of HK$12 million were found in the water filters.
"As the packing and concealment methods involved in the cases resembled each other to a large extent, Customs will not rule out that the two cargoes are related to the same drug syndicate," a spokesman said.
No one has yet been arrested and the investigation is continuing.
