The Confederation of Trade Unions on Friday said it was launching a one minute slogan-chanting action at 5:01 pm.

It said people could take part in the action anywhere across the territory.

Police earlier rejected the union's plan to organise a Labour Day march and gatherings, on the grounds of the risks posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The confederation's chairwoman, Carol Ng said the group would also set up more than 60 street booths in various districts where its staff would hand out leaflets to passers-by.

But she urged people not to gather at the booths, to avoid breaching the gathering ban.
