The Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung on Friday said the government had not asked civil servants to work from home for now, because there are enough face masks for them to protect themselves.

He said in late January, masks were in short supply so civil servants were sent home and this had affected public services.

But Cheung said department heads could still decide on home working arrangements for staff, provided that services were not affected.

With Hong Kong seeing a surge in locally-transmitted Covid-19 cases, there have been calls for the government to bring back the working from home arrangement.
