Trains on one of the MTR network's busiest lines were delayed in the Thursday morning rush hour after engineers discovered a crack on the line between Prince Edward and Mong Kok stations.
The MTR said engineers discovered the "prominent crack" on the Tsuen Wan Line and limited trains to a maximum speed of 22 kilometres per hour in the area at about 7.20am.
Trains were allowed to speed up again from about 8.30am after engineers deemed the stretch of track safe. Repairs are to be carried out when trains are not operating.
Each train was delayed by about three to five minutes and a large number of passengers were gathered on Tsuen Wan Line stations and crowd control measures were put in place.
People were advised to take other modes of transport where possible.
Services on the Kwun Tong Line, which also passes through the station, were not affected.
