  • Covid-related dance cluster expands further

The dance Covid cluster has reported dozens of additional cases and health authorities warned that it could grow further.

Fifty-four cases were added to the cluster on Tuesday, bringing the total number of patients in this group to 187.

The latest infections were among 80 coronavirus cases reported the authorities on Tuesday. Sixty-nine were local cases and the rest were imported ones.

The Centre for Health Protection’s Chuang Shuk-kwan signalled that the number of infections linked to the dance cluster could rise further, as some of the infected patients had previously visited places like a community centre in Tai Wai as well as the Sha Tin and Sheung Shui city halls for dancing.

Of the local cases reported on Tuesday, 10 were untraceable, involving people who live in various districts across the city such as Sha Tin, Tsueng Kwan O, Tung Chung, Tuen Mun, Shau Kei Wan and Sheung Shui.

The imported cases involved patients who arrived from the Philippines, Pakistan, Nepal, Turkey, the UK, Ukraine and Russia.

There were also more than 50 preliminary positive cases, among them a 15-year-old student from the Kiangsu-Chekiang College in North Point. Classes there have been suspended and all pupils will be required to undergo tests.
