Moon Palace Restaurant, which was recently hit by a Covid outbreak, reopened on Thursday after shutting down for a fortnight.

The restaurant in Kowloon Tong said it was informed by the Centre for Health Protection on Wednesday that it could resume business, after having taken various remedial measures.

Moon Palace said on social media that it had thoroughly cleaned the premises, installed multiple air purifiers and adjusted the air circulation.

It rolled out promotions as it reopened, saying it hoped to see "familiar faces" again.

But staff said they had seen little business, hours after the restaurant opened its doors at 10.30am.

A woman surnamed Wong was one of those having lunch there.

"The place must have been well disinfected before reopening. Secondly, there weren't many people in the restaurant and I think it's safer with fewer customers," she told RTHK.

"Experts have inspected the place and pointed out the problems, and the restaurant should have fixed them. Also, Omicron is so transmissible, that it's actually unavoidable."

Moon Palace found itself at the centre of a Covid outbreak earlier this month, with around 10 diners or their close contacts catching the virus. More than 200 other customers and 20 staff were sent to quarantine as a result.
