Health authorities on Thursday ordered more than 150 people who visited a snooker club in Hung Hom to get tested for Covid-19 after a cluster of infections emerged there.
Officials said four people confirmed with Covid had visited Sun Mong Snooker on Monday evening.
They are two men who flew back from the US and the Philippines respectively at the end of last month, and two other men who did not travel recently.
Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Centre for Health Protection said it's suspected that the virus was transmitted there.
"We're investigating. We will contact more than 150 people who visited the club between 5pm and midnight on that day to get tested for Covid," she said.
The announcement comes as Hong Kong reported 294 new Covid infections, including 40 imported cases.
Chuang noted that five of the local cases were reported from a building in Sai Wan Estate in Kennedy Town recently, adding that the virus was also found in sewage samples there.
"These cases might explain some of the findings in sewage. There may be other cases in that district. That's why there's a restriction testing notice for Sai Wan Estate," she said.
"The government is distributing rapid test kits to nearby residents and certain workers."
