The Institute of Vocational Education’s Tseung Kwan O campus will be closed for a fortnight and more than 2,000 students and staff will be asked to test for Covid-19, after a 22-year-old student who goes there was confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus through an unknown source.
The student lives in Sha Tin, and last visited the campus on September 29, which was also when he started developing symptoms. He also went to a bar called "China Secret" in Tsim Sha Tsui with friends on September 23, during the incubation period.
Dr Chuang Shuk Kwan, head of the Centre for Health Protection's communicable disease branch, said staff at the bar will also be tested.
"So far, we have not identified any confirmed case among this activity and also the friends, but we are still investigating," she said.
In all, authorities confirmed four new coronavirus cases. The other three cases were all imported, involving a 27-year-old woman who flew in from the Philippines, a 34-year-old man who arrived in the city from India, and 30-year-old man who came from the UK.
Saturday's cases brought the city's total of confirmed Covid-19 cases to 5,108. There have been 105 deaths.
