A coalition that recently said it collected almost three million signatures in Hong Kong to voice support for a new national security law, launched a new online campaign on Monday against foreign interference.

The United Front Supporting National Security Legislation says it especially wants to counter interference from the United States.

Its convenor, Tam Yiu-chung – who’s the SAR’s sole delegate to the National People's Congress Standing Committee – said the US has blatantly meddled with Hong Kong affairs by threatening to cancel its preferential treatment for the territory over the imposition of the security law.

He was joined by a number of pro-establishment lawmakers, including New People's Party chair Regina Ip, who said the national security law will improve the relationship between Hong Kong and the central government.

Meanwhile, Alice Mak from the Federation of Trade Unions’, accused the US of holding double standards as it has its own laws protecting national security.

"We have seen how the US government deals with their riots in the US, so we can see they are adopting double standards against Hong Kong's domestic affairs," Mak said.

"So I hope that through this petition that we can demonstrate to the foreign countries that our determination to stop foreign interference with Hong Kong's domestic affairs."
