The Civil Human Rights Front says it is unhappy that police have objected to its plans for a march on Hong Kong Island this Sunday.

The front had planned to march from Victoria Park in Causeway Bay to the Chater Road pedestrian precinct in Central. But police have only issued a letter of no objection for a rally within Victoria Park.

The front's vice-convenor, Bonnie Leung, said the police decision could have implications for safety.

"It would create chaos and even danger of a stampede so this decision is not only unreasonable but also dangerous for public safety," she said.

Leung said the Civil Human Rights Front would appeal.
