Police are blaming cigarette butts as the cause of a scaffolding fire that broke out on Tuesday evening at a building in the eastern part of Causeway Bay.

The building, at the junction of Whitfield Road and Watson Road, is undergoing renovation and is covered in bamboo scaffolding and nets.

Eight Fire Services Department vehicles and an ambulance were called to the scene.

Police said there were no injuries and no one had to be evacuated. They said the fire was not suspicious.
