The Centre for Health Protection on Monday warned of a community outbreak of measles in Okinawa, after seeing 70 cases there as of Saturday. It said people going there should maintain good hygiene.

The Undersecretary for Health, Dr Chui Tak-yi, earlier sought to allay parents' concerns, saying that the SAR government had been providing vaccines to children that offer over 90 percent protection.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese authorities say they have recorded 22 measles cases so far but see no signs of a community outbreak there.
