The government on Monday evening ordered lockdowns for two residential buildings in Cheung Sha Wan and Tai Po after residents there tested preliminary positive for Covid-19.
Residents of Po Wah Court on Un Chau Street and Kui Wo House at Tai Wo Estate are required to undergo compulsory testings and stay at home.
A spokesman said the case in Cheung Sha Wan carried a mutant strain, while the test of the person in Tai Po was indeterminate, therefore "the risk of infection in the relevant areas is assessed to be likely higher."
Authorities expect to wrap up the operations by around 7am on Tuesday.
