  • Chaotic scenes at Kornhill after 'boy' arrested

There have been chaotic scenes near Kornhill after a person, described by one witness as a "young boy", was arrested by police, triggering an angry response from several hundred people.

Anti-government protesters then put up barricades on King's Road. Police responded with tear gas and pepper spray.

It all started with an online call for a protest at Tai Koo on Thursday evening.

Around 25 riot police appeared at the MTR station and they were soon surrounded by a crowd, that chanted slogans and hurled abuse.

"I don't know why many police stand in Tai Koo Station," a man who gave his name as Leo said. "Lots of people surrounding them and blame them."

The officers later pulled out and went into the street. But a group followed them and continued to insult them.

"And when they leave they arrest a young boy because the young boy only blame them, so they arrest him. I don't think it is a good idea," Leo said,

Leo said he had witnessed the arrest.

Many were calling for the arrested person to be released.
