The Chief Executive Carrie Lam says she, and her officials, managed to take time out from their meeting on Sunday afternoon to watch a live-streamed concert by Canto-pop legend Sam Hui.

Hui held the free concert to show his support for sound engineers who had lost their jobs because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Chief Executive revealed on her Facebook page that she and her ministers were among the audience, who concert organisers estimated at more than 2.5 million people.

Lam posted a picture showing herself, Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung, Health Secretary Sophia Chan, as well as other top officials clapping, with the concert projected on a huge screen.

She said she had been meeting with the ministers to discuss the latest situation of the outbreak and the government's second round of funding for people and businesses hurt by the health crisis.

The CE had also promoted the concert on social media hours before it started, calling on people to stay at home to watch Hui's performance.

She thanked Hui for bringing positive energy to Hong Kong.

She also underlined that she and her officials kept a good distance between each other and were wearing face masks throughout the meeting, despite government work being exempted from social distancing rules.
