The Executive Council has removed Chief Executive Carrie Lam's honorary fellowship with the Cambridge University's Wolfsen College from her declaration of interests.
The Exco secretariat said it made the change upon receiving Lam's notification on Saturday.
The move comes after Wolfsen's president, Jane Clarke, issued a statement last month saying the college was considering a proposal to strip Lam of her fellowship due to the enactment of the national security law in Hong Kong.
Clarke had said the college strongly supports the protection of human rights and the freedom of expression, and was deeply concerned by recent events following the enactment of the law in the city.
It is so far unclear whether the college has officially revoked the CE's fellowship, or whether the she had relinquished it.
Lam was given her honorary fellowship in 2017 after having completed a program for senior government administrators there.
