  • Carrie Lam eats - and pays - with the opposition

The Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, has made an apparent overture to the pro-democracy camp in a way her predecessor refused to do.

Lam donated HK$30,000 to the Democratic Party at their 23rd anniversary reception after agreeing to go to their annual dinner.

Lam attended the party's fundraising event - which her predecessor CY Leung refused to go to despite being invited several times his tenure.

Lam left the event after sitting at the main table for about an hour - and mentioned about the words "huge reconciliation" on her social media account on the post about the reception.
