A group of DAB community officers have called for a crackdown on drug dealers, saying they have come across a mobile phone dating app which is being used to deliver marijuana.
The three community officers said they found 10 marijuana sellers on this app during a sting operation and were able to get in touch with the sellers in less than five minutes.
They said that because the app is completely anonymous, it is the ideal channel for people to sell marijuana.
One of the members of the team, Joseph Chan, said that if users add the numbers "420" or "420wannabuy" – which they said is a code for marijuana – then the drug sellers will get in touch and arrange deals.
They also said the delivery was done face-to-face at MTR stations, or door-to-door.
The DAB activists said they will consider reporting their findings to the police and will share their insights with the force.
DAB lawmaker Horace Cheung noted that marijuana has been legalised in other parts of the world, and urged the government to do more to stop cross-border drugs trafficking.
Cheung also called on the authorities to step up publicity and education about drugs in schools, and urged parents to pay attention to their children's behaviour.
