Travellers from Hong Kong heading to Singapore under a planned travel bubble arrangement will need to download a contact tracing app that is widely used in the city-state in order to visit most places there.
Rachel Lim from the Singapore Tourism Board said the check-in system, SafeEntry, is aimed at reducing the manual effort needed to log the entry and exit of visitors to various places, like museums and malls.
According to the Singapore government's website, the app is needed to enter places like hotels, supermarkets, restaurants and entertainment venues.
Lim said Singapore is ready to welcome visitors as its coronavirus situation there is stabilising.
“With good Covid infection control, good healthcare capacity, proactive testing and very competent contact tracing, we have brought the Covid situation steadily down to a single digit in the past month or so,” she said.
Lim said social distancing measures in Singapore will offer peace of mind for travellers.
“The attractions have operating capacity limits and they will make sure their guests and workers also maintain their safe distancing,” she said.
