Customs officers said on Saturday that they had charged a 15-year-old boy with trafficking dangerous drugs after seizing 17 kilogrammes of heroin at the Lok Ma Chau Control Point this week.

Officers said the haul is estimated to have a market value of around HK$14.9 million and it is the largest drug trafficking case detected at a land boundary crossing this year.

They said the heroin was found on Thursday in four express parcels sent to Hong Kong from Malaysia, via Shenzhen.

The heroin was found inside four range hoods.

In a press note, Customs said the 15-year-old boy was arrested in Tsuen Wan on Friday and he would appear in court on Monday.
