Roads surrounding Justice Place in Central were reopened at around noon on Friday, after police bomb squad officers confirmed there was nothing suspicious about a backpack and a bottle of water found near a telephone booth on Lower Albert Road.

Police were on high alert after discovering the items, which they suspected could be explosives, at around 10am.

Surrounding roads were blocked off and the Transport Department had advised motorists to take alternative routes.

The scare came just days after police said they found a massive haul of explosives at a factory building in Tsuen Wan.
