  • Banners and weapons seized in restaurant arrests

Police have arrested two men in charge of a restaurant in Mong Kok and seized “banners printed with slogans” alongside items including batons, gas masks, helmets, goggles, reflective vests and a shield.

Officers did not disclose what the slogans were.

The suspects, aged 25 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of possessing weapons and items “fit for unlawful purposes” and had been released on bail.

The restaurant, Jie Genge, is well-known for its support for the anti-government movement.

Police said on Saturday that the arrests were made during an anti-triad operation in the area. A spokesman said officers also patrolled different premises to see whether there were any violations of social-distancing regulations.

It said more than 50 people were arrested during the entire operation.
