A one-year-old baby boy died after a fire broke out in apartment building in Hung Shui Kiu, near Yuen Long, on Saturday evening.

The boy was among five people who were taken to hospital after the blaze started at Treasure Court.

The blaze started at around 7.30pm and was put out half an hour later.

The injured were rushed to Tin Shui Wai, Tuen Mun and Pok Oi hospitals, but the boy died at the Tin Shui Wai facility.

Some other people in the building also reported discomfort after smoke inhalation.

Neighbours who saw the fire immediately rang for help and fire service personnel arrived within minutes and started putting the fire out.
