The government's Centre for Health Protection says it is investigating a new case of Hepatitis E, involving a 73-year-old man.
He is in a stable condition and he cannot recall having had direct contact with rodents or their excreta. Nor had he noticed rodents at his home in Wong Tai Sin.
He had no travel history during the incubation period.
Hong Kong reported the world's first human Hepatitis E case last year.
