Hong Kong health officials say that, starting from Monday, all travellers arriving on flights from the United States and Europe will have to be tested for Covid-19 at the AsiaWorld-Expo convention centre on Lantau and wait for their results there.
If they test negative, they will be allowed to leave and begin their compulsory 14-day home quarantine.
Travellers returning from the UK have had to follow this rule since Thursday.
Officials say they brought in the measure because most of Hong Kong's imported cases involve people from these countries.
The number of infections in Hong Kong passed the 1,000 mark on Saturday, though 10 of the 11 new cases were imported.
