Police said on Wednesday they have arrested a man and are looking for more suspects over an alleged assault at a Tuen Mun McDonalds over mask-wearing in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Video of the alleged incident circulating online show a maskless man arguing with a staff member who appear to have refused to serve him.
The clip shows the man crossing over into the staff area and pummeling the staff member.
Police say the suspect then fled on a van.
Officers say a 27-year-old man who’s believed to have driven the vehicle has been arrested, and aren’t ruling out more arrests.
The alleged victim was taken to Tuen Mun Hospital with facial injuries.
A McDonalds Hong Kong spokesman said it will cooperate fully with the police investigation.
He stressed that the restaurant places high priority on the health and safety of both customers and staff, and will continue to cooperate with government directives on public health – including not serving anyone found with a fever or not wearing a mask.
