Anti-extradition protesters have taken over part of Harcourt Road in Central after marching from Causeway Bay. Ten of thousands of protesters are already marching along Hennessy Road, which has been blocked to traffic since early this afternoon.
Barricades have been set up on Hennessy Road and Harcourt Road.
The march went ahead in spite of a police ban and the force has already issued a statement warning that it is an unauthorised assembly.
Many of the marchers were carrying American flags and some even carried banners supporting the Trump 2020 re-election campaign, with the slogan "Keep America Great".
The use of US flags will almost certainly rile Beijing but the anti-extradition protests come at a sensitive time in Sino-US relations.
In addition to the ongoing trade war, the US Congress is considering the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy act, which could affect the SAR's trade status with the US should Congress deem that Hong Kong's freedoms and autonomy have been undermined.
