  • Another top cop accused of property rules breach

The commandant of the auxiliary police force, Yang Joe-tsi, said on Monday that he had asked surveyors to follow up on a structure found on his home's rooftop after reports suggested he's the latest senior police officer to have allegedly breached property rules.

The Chinese newspaper Ming Pao reported that it has found a suspected illegal structure on top of Yang's village house in Sai Kung. The report said the structure is half the size of the rooftop and covered by solar panels.

In response, Yang said the solar panels were installed to support the government's renewable energy policy and the structure involved is removable.

He added that he has asked surveyors to follow up on this.

This comes as officials were looking into accusations against three other top police officials involving similar structures and licensing issues.

Last week officials visited the Clearwater Bay home of assistant police commissioner Rupert Dover to look into whether he and his wife are breaching licensing rules for the property, which sits on government land.
