Chief Executive Carrie Lam's aide-de-camp, Ada Chan, fainted and collapsed at the end of the CE's media briefing ahead of the weekly Executive Council meeting.
The female security officer, who was standing just a few steps away from Lam, fell to the ground when the SAR leader was giving her answer to the last question in the briefing.
Lam, who apparently noticed a loud thump as Chan hit the floor, turned her head towards the direction of her collapsed aide several times before wrapping up her answer.
She then quickly left the briefing area without making any noticeable attempt to find out what happened to her aide.
Chan, meanwhile, was carried away from the press area where she regained consciousness after a few minutes.
She was then escorted to an ambulance by government staff.
In response to media enquiries, the Chief Executive’s Office said Lam wasn’t aware of what was going on at the time, adding the SAR leader has already sent her regards to Chan.
