Health authorities on Monday discovered four preliminary positive Covid-19 cases in the ambush lockdowns announced on Sunday evening for three residential buildings in Quarry Bay, Hung Hom and Mong Kok.
It's the largest number of cases to be found in an ambush lockdown - where authorities cordon off a building or area without prior notice and enforce testing - since 13 were found last month in Jordan, and where around 7,000 were tested.
Three of the cases were found in Wai Lee Building in Quarry Bay with about 860 people tested. That suggests a positive rate of nearly 0.35 percent, roughly twice the rate in Jordan, albeit with a lower sample size.
The other case was found in Cheong Lok Mansion in Hung Hom, where around 370 were tested.
More than 1,100 residents have been tested at Hoi Fu Court in Mong Kok, where results are still being verified.
