The MTR announced on Thursday that services will resume at all of its stations except for the Light Rail system on Friday, following emergency repairs.
However, the railway said more work needed to be done to repair facilities that have been seriously damaged, and warned that services may once again be suspended early, as they have been this entire week.
It urged commuters to watch for further announcements on Friday morning.
Virtually all stations of the entire local metro system have been vandalised by anti-government protesters in recent weeks.
Various equipment have been smashed up, fires have been set, and many stations have been flooded with fire hoses.
In an unprecendented move, the entire MTR system shut down completely on Friday night, hours after the government implemented a highly controversial face mask ban using a colonial-era emergency law, sparking protests across the city.
The railway has offered only limited services since, with many key stations closed down completely.
On Thursday, the network shut down at 9pm, and the Tseung Kwan O station remained closed for the entire day.
