The Education Bureau has announced that all schools will be closed on Monday afternoon due to heavy rain that lashed Hong Kong in the morning.
The observatory issued a red rainstorm warning signal at 10:35am, warning of rainfall exceeding five centimetres in some areas. It also asked people living in low lying areas to watch out for flash floods.
The education bureau said morning classes that are currently in session should continue.
It also instructed authorities to let children go home only under safe circumstances.
