Pro-democracy activists have pushed a coffin with a photo of Chief Executive Carrie Lam on it through the streets of Admiralty, to mark a month since the extradition bill protest violence on June 12.
Dozens were injured during the clashes that day, with the police facing accusations of brutality for the way they used tear gas and rubber bullets on demonstrators.
The dozen or so activists from the League of Social Democrats said the recent protests wouldn't even have happened if Lam had just withdrawn the bill and stepped down.
They said the coffin was to symbolise that while the extradition bill is not "dead" as Lam claims, her political career is certainly over.
The party's former lawmaker, Leung Kwok-hung, said she must now step down.
"I think it's the only way to make Hong Kong people think that there will be a new era of Hong Kong politics," he said.
"Of course, if they restart political reform, it would be better," he added.
