An 84-year-old Covid-19 patient died at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning.
He's the 17th coronavirus patient to die in the SAR's public hospitals since the outbreak began and the tenth death in the past two weeks amid a resurgence in virus cases that has seen many elderly people and patients with chronic diseases infected.
The man lived at Ping Shek Estate in Choi Hung and visited a mall and wet market in the neighbourhood, as well as the Telford Plaza mall in Kowloon Bay.
He was admitted to hospital on July the 16, and was moved to its intensive care ward the next day as his situation deteriorated. After a hospital transfer, his condition worsened and he died at about 4am.
Some 123 people were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus on Friday, the SAR's record daily total for a third consecutive day.
