The Hospital Authority said two people were fighting for their lives on Monday morning after a night of clashes and violence across the SAR.
A total of 17 people were admitted to hospital by 9am on Monday morning. Besides the two who were in critical condition, two were in serious condition and a further eight were stable. One person's condition had not been assessed and four were allowed home.
Riot police and protesters clashed in various districts across Hong Kong, including at shopping malls in Tai Koo, Sha Tin and Tuen Mun.
At Cityplaza in Tai Koo, four people were injured in a knife attack in which a district councillor had part of his ear bitten off.
In Tseung Kwan O in the early hours of the morning, a Hong Kong University of Science and Technology student was seriously injured after falling from the third to the second floor of a car park, apparently while trying to escape tear gas fired by riot police.
